At Peelhouse Dental Care we tend not to use amalgam as a restorative filling any more. We prefer to utilise the modern composite or tooth coloured materials. We find these allow minimal destruction of tooth and allow us to save as much of the tooth tissue as possible whilst adding some intrinsic strength to the tooth as well.
These materials give a pleasing aesthetic result but also can add strength to a broken down tooth.
If a tooth is very heavily broken down then another type of restoration may be required and we will discuss with you the pros and cons of different techniques and if a crown on inlay/onlay is required instead.
Composite can also be used to add to the shape of a tooth to help contour it and they are widely used in our mixed treatments cases with braces and whitening to achieve a pleasing aesthetic finish.
Our dental health care plans are for our patients who are dentally fit or have had a course of treatment and want to maintain that level of dental health.
They involve dental health checks with the dentists or therapists and hygiene/gum treatments with the dental hygiene therapists.
